This past January, one of the one month schools we had in Brazil was located in a small town called Barra Grande, near Paraty a touristic town in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
An Adventist lady that owns a beautiful retreat center by a stream, offered the facility for us for a small price so we could accommodate 31 students that came from several parts of Brazil to learn more about medical missionary work.
We had the help of the local church members to make this school a reality as well as the pleasure of the visit of local pastors and church leaders who taught some of the classes throughout the month.
Together with those we were blessed with the presence of Dr. Jochen Hawlistcheck and Dr. Cesar Souza that were able to share their knowledge and experience in the health area with our students regarding preventive medicine and mental health.
On the third weekend, as part of their training, the students went out door to door inviting the local residents of this town to a health expo that they themselves were organizing.
Surprisingly we had more than 200 people come to the health screening and that was most of the population of the town.
The Lord blessed us in several ways but just wanted to highlight the way he was blessing us providing financially and also sending volunteers to bring us food from the big city since it was amazingly expensive in that town and the one close by for being a touristic town.
The Conference Health Leader was pleased and impressed with the work and we pray the doors will continue to be open for this work in that region and many others in the country of Brazil!
